Nick Black. Mall Thomas. John Garner, and Scolt Carden work on Ihe Junior float Sophomore guys are all smiles. Homecoming Week Homecoming Week is one of ihe mosl fun and exciting limes of our school year. Il is a time when each class unites as one to work diligently on their float for class competition. It is the parade down Broad Street in the crisp fall air. It is the magical moment when the homecoming queen is crowned. And it is the fans cheer- ing their tigers on for a Homecoming Victory! The 1984 version of G.H.S. Homecoming was no ex- ception. The Sophomore Class took first place with their float entitled. Tigers Press the Jackets featuring a huge Tiger ironing a yellow jacket with several jackets already hung neatly pressed in cleaner bags. The Senior Class came in a close second with their Bug-Killing float. Zap the Jackets. The game was an exciting one! Students and alumni alike cheered their Tigers on to win over the Glencoe Yellow Jackets. But before the victory came the half-time presentation of the Homecoming Court. The G.H.S. band played Lionnel Richie's Hello as all the maids were announced. This year the Queen was not revealed until half-time, adding to the evenings suspense. Amidst the anticipation the 1959 Homecoming Queen crowned Sr. Dena Armstrong as the 1984 Queen.
