Assembly, Concert Liven Daily Routine All work and no play makes GHS a dull school. But GHS is far from that. Many things happened at school this year. Senator Sparkman came and made a speech to the first- time voting seniors. He answered their questions and chatted infor- mally with a few of them. Later on in the year, the great GHS band sponsored a concert by the rock group, Chase. It was held at Wallace Hall, Gadsden Slate Junior College. Their performance was well received. The organist for Chase seems to be enjoying himself as much as the audience is enjoying his playing. LEFT: Singer for Chase adds to performance. GHS Is Not Just A Building Gadsden High School welcomed students back again on No- vember 20. This time the students did not pass under the white columns and enter the front door to search for their homerooms. Instead they filed into the field house, turned right and sat down on the bleachers. They laughed and joked, but were more sub- dued than on September 5, which seemed so much longer ago than just three months. Dr. Andrew addressed the assembly. He admitted that everyone who loved GHS had suffered a great loss, but he stressed the fact that by working together the spirit of the school would flame despite all obstacles. Students left the assembly still saddened, but encouraged. Students walked by the columns alone, in couples, or in small groups, but united.
