SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We, the graduating class of '58, leave our fondest memories to the teachers and oncoming student bodies of Gadsden High School. In September of 1954, we entered as all freshmen do—- green , scared, and wideeyed. It wasn't long before our upperclassmen realized that we weren't just an ordinary class. Our Homecoming float didn't place; but when it came to the talent show, we had the second place ribbon in the bag with the theme, Santa's Doll Room. When stunt night rolled around, we came up with A trip to the Moon, and it was very good for our first and only performance. Jean Gibson was our beauty, and we were very proud of her. Our Sophomore year was as profitable as the first, and our Homecoming float looked very promis- ing, but there were no judges; so, of course, we didn't get a ribbon. When talent show time came around again, we once more took the ribbon for second place. Our candidate for queen was the lovely Kitty Barnes. 1956, and we were finally upperclassmen. This time we won the second place ribbon for our Home- coming float. Next was the first place ribbon for our talent show, 19th Hole. To top it all, we received the Class of the Year award under the capable leadership of Ralph Godfrey. The biggest moment came when Sally McCord, our class beauty, was crowned queen. Seniors at last. Our rings helped us to feel that our senior year had started three months early. Then came our greatest accomplishment although many thought we couldn't do it. Our goal of $13,000 for the magazine campaign was met and on time at that. We were very proud of our Home- coming Queen, Sally McCord. We had a good time getting ready for a wonderful talent show, but we'll just skip the results. Sally is the Queen of our class and we hope that Mantovani thinks so, too! We sincerely hope that for all dear ole G. H. S. has given us, we have given to it a little in return . . . that we have done a small bit of good, by being . . . the Class of 1958.
