SENIOR CLASS HISTORY Seniors now, we've come a long way trom the timid little freshmen. Some might call us dignified, but underneath we'll always carry with us the frolicking, friendly spirit prevalent at G.H.S. and particularly in the class of '56. As freshmen we surprised the other classes by placing second in the Talent Show; but our biggest thrill was when Wyatt Sieber crowned our beauty, Jerrie Gillespie, Queen of Gadsden High School. Our sophomore year started with a bang when we won first place with our Homecoming float, entitled Stump 'Em, Tigers. This was just the beginning. We won a red ribbon for our Talent Show, Saddy Nite in Hebben, and Jerre Gillespie was crowned Queen for the second time. Before we knew it, we were juniors and upperclassmen at last. We took first place in the Talent Show. Our stunt for that year won us second place. Tough as nails, hard as bricks, we're the class of '56. We proved our spunk and spirit in the magazine campaign. Under the leadership, of Jim Connor, our class president, we topped the school record by selling $1143. Homecoming came next, and we were all very proud of our lovely Queen, Jenny Davis. Our class beauty, Kay Watford, was crowned Queen by our own Jim Conner at the first annual Coronation Ball. Seniors, we are looking toward the future. We hope that as we take our places f in life, we can make G.H.S. proud of the Class of 1956.
