OUR SUPERINTENDENT Gadsden was established as a separate school district in 1889. Today it has one of the most efficient educational systems in the South. Mr. C. A. Donehoo took up the work of Gadsden's Superintendent of Education in 1922. Two years later, he began the highly favorable budget system in the high school in place of the former tuition method. By this and other means, Supt. Donehoo has greatly increased the efficiency of the city schools. As Mr. Donehoo closes his career as Supt. of city schools this year, we realize that he has worked unceasingly for the betterment of our schools while superintendent. No praise is high enough to thank Mr. Donehoo for his outstanding service to our city. Pago 12

DEDICAT ION The Senior Class of '51 proudly dedicates its edition of the CRUCIBLE to Mi. F. T. Dobbs, who has meant so much to us during our stay at G. H. S. We feel that, as principal, Mr. Dobbs has bettered Gadsden High in every way since he came here in the fall of 1947. Although new in his job, Mr. Dobbs led G. H. S. to better sportsmanship, more interest in extra-curricular activities, and more appreciation of higher learning. We have always felt that Mr. Dobbs was one of us, and that in the future, we may turn to him for any help which we may need. To you, Mr. Dobbs, we give our sincere thanks and gratitude for all you have done for us during our high school career.
