In today's world, WAR is not exactly the
last thing on our minds. Since there is noth-
ing we, as students, can really do about it,
we try to push those three threatening
letters as far back in the dark corners of
our minds as we can. But it is still there
lurking . . . waiting.
People believe that today's generation
of teenagers is all wrong. If these people
only knew how wrong they are. lf they
only knew how totally against war most of
us are. We want to grow and learn just as
everyone before us has. And we know we
can do it if we are given the chance.
One of our many goals is to make this
world a better place for everyone, and we
are going to do it. And this is where it all
starts - high school.
MISS WIBKE HILLEBRAND
The 1984 edition of the Garchive is dedicated to Miss Wibke Hillebrand. Wibke is only the second exchange
student G.A.R. has ever had. Wibke, whose hometown is Bad-Salzuflens, West Germany, comes from a family of
four. Her father is employed as a pharmaceutical representative. She is currently residing at the home of Mr. 8a
Mrs. Joseph Blaum.
After graduation from G.A.R., Wibke must return to West Germany and complete two more years of school. Her
future plans are to return to America to become a doctor.
Miss Hillebrand enjoys being involved in key club, basketball, volleyball, ski club, softball, and Garchoir.
The entire student body, faculty, and administration at G.A.R. wish Wibke well in the future. She has given us
many memories to cherish forever.

MR. EDWIN COBLEIGH
MRS. JUDITH LEVIN
Mr. Edwin Cobleigh retired in November this year after a long career in the Wilkes-Barre
Area School District.
Upon graduation from Temple, Mr. Cobleigh taught at West Pittston Junior-Senior High
School before coming to G.A.R. in 1955. His teaching career was interrupted when he was
appointed supervisor of social studies from 1971 to 1973.
Mr. Cobleigh gained notoriety for his yearly portrayal of Abraham Lincoln. He truly
enjoyed bringing to life a historical figure about whom his students had only read.
We wish Mr. Cobleigh a retirement filled with happiness and good health.
The G.A.R. family returned to school after the Christmas holidays
with a deep sense of loss as we learned of the death of Mrs. Judith Levin
on December 30.
Mrs. Levin began her career in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District
in September, 1962. For the past 22 years she had been a reading
teacher at G.A.R. Memorial High School where she also served as
, advisor to the school newspaper. In her long career here at G.A.R., Mrs.
Levin touched the lives of innumerable students, and she will be missed.

Parenting Class Hosts
Eddie wants a choo-choo train!
Having a good time.
Well, hello, Sunshine!
The parenting class of Mrs.
Shrader held parties at Hal-
loween and Christmas.
Guests were "little friends" of
the students and teachers.
It was a good experience
for the class as they had a
chance to observe the chil-
dren's reactions to different
situations. A good time was
had by all, but most impor-
tantly, a learning experience
was provided for the class.
Sue is enjoying the party!
