Distance runners included Captain Toole, Johnny Morris, Joe Hill, Sonny Barto, Doug Morris, Larry Gray, Richard Bittle, Bobby Wat- kins, and Charles Bailey. Numbering among the sprinters were Captain Julian, Ronnie Jackson, Joe Embry, Wendell Grey, David is Large, Jimmy Wright, Jimmy King, James Gid- deon, Alex Smith, Paul Cameron, Tyson Mc- Ghee, George Harb, Burr McKean, and Lynn Nance. Hurdlers included Alex Smith, Frank Dowling, Jimmy King, James Garren, Tim Tarzier, Wayne Duncan, Cliff Van Epps, and Jack Kerr. Vaulters and jumpers-Joe Hill, Wendell Gray, Joe Toney, Enest Jenning, Sherman Wells, Paul Cameron, Tim Tarzier, q71yrusuCiaga Jack Kerr, and Jimmy Carter. i958 BASEBALL TEAM Beginning practice in early March, coach Earl Wells' Falcon baseball squad fought for individual team positions and then battled in game after game for the Maroon and White. The lineup looked something like this: First Base-Robert Baird. Second Base-Hugh Geogley, Tom Martin, and Connie Wolf- enbarger. Third Base-Jackie Jones, cc. Shortstop-Ernie Hill. Left Field-Ronnie Boles. Center Field-John Raggio. Right Field-Oakie Whitehead. Catcher-Ronnie Phillips, cc. Pitchers-Joe Cockrum, Buddy Dean, David Slagle, and Rob- ert Baird.
