Small, Coach Dean Petricek, Trackmen Are District Champs F.H.S. capped a banner athletic year May 15 winning the District Track Meet at Grand Island. The team gave a strong account of itself all season scoring high in most of its meets. Top individuals were Tim Roewert, George Palmer, Jerry Thomas, Tim Horacek, and Terry Imus, all seniors. Roewert was the top point producer, getting 440 and 880 best times of :50.3 and 2:04. Horacek skimmed the low hurdles in :20.8 and set a record high jump of 6'1' . Palmer ran the high hurdles in Senior Jerry Thomas set the pace in the 880-yard run, :15.5 and long-jumped 20'1 4 . Thomas added a 2:08.8 880 clocking and Imus cleared 11 feet in the pole vault. The War- riors qualified five men in seven events for the State Track Meet at Kearney May 23, and scored 9 1 2 points in Class C competition. State scoring was by Roewert, fourth in the 440; Horacek, fourth in the high jump (tie); and the Mile Relay team of Rick Roewert, Thomas, Tim Roewert, and Palmer, first in 3:30.8.
