Third row: STC Ryburn, GMG3 Frazier, FTMI Winters, Lll Gibson, SN Matsuura, FTG2 Koch, GMCS O'Quin Included in the ranks of Repair 5 Division are men whose rates are most essential to the proper functioning of the Navy, during both peace and War. They range from gunner's mates, fire control technicians, and sonar technicians to photographer's mates and lithographers. These men all perform extremely im- portant jobs for FRONTIER as well as the many ships of the Pacific Fleet which I they serve. The primary job of the Gunner's Mate aboard FRONTIER is to inspect and repair any weapon of doubtful capabilities, either aboard his own ship or any destroyer which may come alongside for repairs. Working hand and hand with the gunner's mates are the Fire Control Tech- nicians, Whose responsibilities include insuring that all target and direction control systems, as well as surface and submarine fire control systems, are in perfect operating condition, The responsibilities of the Sonar Technicians of R-5 include inspection and repair of underwater detection and tracking devices which are part of all ocean-going naval vessels. The Photographer's Mates and the Lithographers add the finishing touches to R-5 with their photo and rintin ser ' h mand by all commands. p g vices W ich are in ever increasing de-
