The fourth Division of the USS FRONTlER'S Repair Department are the Electronic Technicians, Electronic Technician Radar, Electronic Technician Communications. They are the Electronics Division which composes three separate shops 3 ET shop, Teletype Repair and Calibration Laboratory. ET shop is responsible for a wide variety of electronic equipments. The jobs performed 'ranges from overhauling motors and gear system use to drive antenna to repairing walkieetalkies. Although their main task is to extend repair services to ships alongside, they are also responsible in maintaining the FRONTIER'S own 'radar and communications equipment. ' Another section of R-4 Division is the Teletype Repair shop. Here they overhaul and clean teletype printers. Radiomen are also assigned in this shop. To efficiently facilitate the completion and accuracy of their work an ultrasonic cleaner is used. This cleaner enables them to submerge the whole printer that completely cleanse it before they make repairs. The extremely complex nature and many varieties of printers make this job difficult. Calibration Laboratory shops main task is calibrating precision test equip- t 1 men s. They are ET s who are highly and specially trained in the field of tr l me o ogy. To ensure accuracy and effectivity in performing their jobs, they require a space of controlled temperature, humidity and many accurate instruments.
