ET lil Et BQEIE With music being such an integral part of the American teenager, most high school students make a concerting effort to see as many groups as their ears, stomachs, and wallets can handle. Cellar Door, and Constitution Hall all present new and established talent regularly. But, the hot spot of cool sounds is our own Capital Centre. Each month kids hear Good, Good, Good, Good Vibrations. As soon as you enter the doors you're shoulder to shoulder with people. Spotting an attendant you cry, l want you-oo, to show me the way. And he'll probably reply, Walk this way, Walk this way. lf you come with a date, and see an interest- ing person - remember, There must be 50 ways to leave your lover. Besides enjoying the music, partying is the second thing to do. At this point the crowd becomes very aggressive and everyone says, l wanna take you higher, Soon the music get's rockin' and everyone finds their own way to enjoy it. While half the crowd shouts, Get up and Boogie , the other half screams, Get down, Get down. So next time you have a chance, C'mon and do it, do it, do it 'til you're satisfied. I don't know about you but, l got the music in mel ll and 27 are the Aerosmith Concert at Capital Centre. f 24 X STUDENT LIFE

Are you confused, ag- gravated, upset or just plain bugged about those little things people do that annoy you? Everyone has pet peeves, big or small, teachers, students, ad- ministration, they're all in there together. Here are a few of the most common an- noyances: - When teachers get in their moods. - When you say hi to someone and they do not answer back. - When teachers use standardized tests - When you're three seconds late for class and you're sent to Mr. Vann - People who fool around with my hair or my clothes - Unfair grading - When people crack their knuckles - When you're trying to talk to someone, but they're not listening - Fingernails on a blackboard - When students ask for passes to the bathroom, library, or to the water fountain, when they have just had lunch - jealous girls, or uys - When students forget their books TJ Alright! Who threw the spit ball? exclaims Debbie Anderson. 25 When will Tim Shearer ever get done?f' yawns Kathy Kertesz. 33 Stop following me! exclaims Vivian Lipkey. 49 Simple questions don't annoy Mr. Parlee as they do some teachers. E 'T it I 'J You zip into the parking lot doing your usual 35, when all of a sudden, BOOM! You scream obscenities, hit the brakes and glare into your rearview mirror. You see . . . speed bumps. Son-of-a-T, l keep forgetting about those God 1 things! Sound familiar? This scene was repeated many times early in the year before Friendly students and even faculty got used to those enormous annoyances strategically placed throughout the parking lot. The speed bumps were installed in November at the request of Mr. Yovich to - what else - slow down people speeding in the parking lot. He had received numerous complaints from both students and faculty about people driving wrecklessly. f'We almost had a couple of kids run over out there he says, So in went 9 speed bumps as a safety precaution. Unfortunately, the first set was a little bit too precautionary -they were too high. After another set of numerous complaints - this time about shot suspensions, ruined mud flaps, and banged-up axles, Mr. Yovich had the speed bumps lowered in December. Also the ones in the driveway in front of the building were removed because of irritated bus drivers. Then, in january when the snow came, the plows clearing the parking lot also cleared some of the speed bumps. They were replaced, and they have been left unaltered since. Mr. Yovich evaluates the speed bumps favorably. He says they have definitely been effective in slowing down speeders in the parking area. So the next time you go to school, think about your poor car before you come flying into the parking lot. STUDENT LIFE 1 25
