It took 48 hours to build, and over 35 people spent long hours working on it. What is it? What Else? The junior Float, Did you expect less? Those were long, strenu- ous, hard working, complicated . . . and . . . fun meetings. Most of the people in- volved with the float managed to keep most of their frustrations to themselves, knowing , that in the end their work would be worth- f,,lf ' while. The difficulty came when they started building the frame to the twelve-foot high, Birthday Cake . The cake consisted of eight layers, each representing a year at Friendly and what it was remembered by. The first layer staited with the first class of 1971 and going on up to 1978 which was the top layer and the class in which to graduate. The float originally was born at julie Ellis' backyard, grew up and moved to the Schaeffer's house in which to retain its finishings and then be presented in the 'l--- ..........,m Homecoming Parade. The long hard hours really paid off when, at half-time. The joy- ous news came over the speaker. The ju- niors had taken First Place. The Birthday cake found a new home, no, not at julie's, no, not at Schaeffer's but at the historical place, . . . the junk yard, oh well, maybe next year! Belva Hill and Ruth Frazier almost get carried away at the Homecoming parade. ff, ,ff 1 - -Q.-Lf:-s... A junior follows an understood code of behavior. This responsibility must be upheld every year for the reputation of the class is at stake. These lavvs are in black and vvhite, so that those not with it can be a full-fledged member of class of 78 . just in time for classes Undermines huge projects to raise money Never loses the annual float contest lnexcusable, because a junior isn't lost and one ean't have senioritis Open minded to overhelpful seniors and open hearted to unfortunate sophomores Relaxes and takes it easy IUNIORSX 127
