SENIOR ENGLISH A pupil wont always be able to drive a ho?- rod or to iitter-bug, but he will alwcys be able to read. English 7 and 8 prepare him to use his leisure, both pleasurably and profit- ably, in reading entertaining and challenging books. Both courses teach him to iudge whe- ther a book is truly worthwhile or vvriether it is merely dressed-up trash. Course 7 is concerned with English literature through l89O and course 8 with contemporary Amer- ican and English writing. English 9 has proved invaluable to both the college-pres paratory senior and the one who is taking a iob atter graduation. 'Sl v X912 Jfzf f-am ,,.,,,, ig fill qi iw u-if-v I-ii , r Rwanda vp. x ig! ' SPANISH "lt all started with Columbus" and we find that it's still fun to learn Spanish in our part of America. Naturally foreign language study requires real work, but there are lighter moments too. ln addition to those assign- ments in our textbooks, we enioy conversa- tion practice, supplementary reading in Span- ish-language periodicals, singing, and listen- ing to recordings. Travelogues, films, and classroom decorations add interest to our study. By learning more of the Spanish- speaking world, its people, their history, cul- tures and customs, we try to make the Good Neighbor Policy a reality here at Fresno High School. -,R an , , L zhlifkgf xi KSN- my-'IT 'gifs K 'V in 9 Q, mf "Mlm 4 wk gf 1 ! T rf Q29 PHYSICAL EDUCATION Physical Education Department activities are divided into three groups: interscholastic, in- tramural, and classwork. Each ot these has a definite place in the program and none should be emphasized to the detriment of the others. Instruction in the methods and tech- niques is, ot course, ot paramount import- ance, but getting along with one another under emotional stress is one of the main obiectives in any physical education pro- gram. The intramural program has become a very important part ot the school lite at Fresno High. Students who participate as contestants or as spectators look forward to the activities each year.
