Numerous names were considered-many fine representatives of those years. But one name stood out above all others-one man who best represents the changes that have enveloped 50 years of growth: Mr. Ralph Kling. Principal since January 1965, lVlr. Kling has been instrumental in initiating reforms in the traditional high school structure. The flexibility of mill scheduling and the modular system has given our students the freedom to plan their own time and learn the responsibility involved. The introduction of numerous elective courses perhaps best represents the trend away from the basic three 'R's. As principal, lVlr. Kling has been the guiding influence during a period of spectacular growth, as the student body leaped from just 1800 in 1963 to over 2500 in 1973, Under his supervision, Fremont expanded and met the challenge of this new and continuing flood of students. Fremont has been molded by 50 years of growth. Mr. Ralph Kling has seen and created much of the growth of those years. He has played a large role in implementing the changes in Fremont that most reflect the changes of a half century.
