Text from Pages 1 - 134 of the 1959 volume:

T0 OUR PARENTS: As teenagers often are, we know we have been a trial to you. Many times our thoughtlessness has caused you anxious moments, our noise fespecially our Rock and Roll recordsj has driven you to distraction. Our resentment of authority has tormented you. You have often wondered how you could have raised such thoughtless, selfish monsters. Nevertheless, we love and appreciate you more than you know, and to you we dedicate this 195869 chronicle of our school activities, our Pathfinder, THIS IS FREMONT Table of Contents Pl?lN6'lPAl'S' MESSA GE Students : This is a book of memories. It is a collection of pictures and paragraphs which tell a story of the year 1958-1959. It tells of achievements and good times. It is a part of your life. Many fine young people have gone before you to make their mark in this world and many will follow in the years to come. Fremont has a fine record and a proud heritage. As you browse through this book in some distant year, particularly you Seniors, you will stop in time for a few moments, and go back in thought to those memorable moments which were your high school days. Take note of this pictoral story, underclassmen, and set your course and compass. You are the captain of your ship, sailing on unpredictable and uncharted seas, in quest of the star destiny pointed out for you. Reach for it through honest toil and have faith. f I am happy to have been a part of this story. I am proud of you, of your parents, of Fremont High School and the excellent staff of teachers. Sincere wishes, C. T. Haan Principal ' "- ,V ,vs 4559 QW-ap. m W wa 'Wv Mrs. Garcia, Counselor Standing, left to 'rights Hal Pierce, Dean Strausl, johnny Ziegler. Sitting: Norma Higashi, Vicki Gillmeister, Donna Valerius. SENIOR CLASS LEADERS Mr. Yeager Counselor SENIOR FAREWEU June1959 Dear Fellow Students and Teachers: The time has come to say goodfbye. In doing so we would like to tell you what Fremont has meant to us during the past four years. From the time we entered as the greenest of Freshmen and received the cordial greet' ings of the upper classmen until 'these final hours as sophisticated Seniors, we have loved every moment. It is true that into our four years have gone, a great deal of hard work, grumbling and failures, but it is equally true that out of it has come achievement, success, reward and the pride of accomplishment. After we entered our Senior Year fin September, we watched the ,days fly by - 'the last football game, the Valentines Dance, the Senior Ball, Senior Night and Sneak Day. These -are things we will never forget, the wonderful memories we will always cherish in our hearts. We want to express our sincerest gratitude to our teachers and administrators for their guidance, counsel and patience. We have taken a look at our past, examined our feelings of the present, and we now look to the future with anticipation, joy, hope, ambition and a determination to make you proud of us. Behind us lies four wonderful years, but before us lies . . . the World! Not one team in the league scored more than two touchdowns against the "green" team. At the beginning of the year, new head coach Gerald Perf guson had only two lettermen from last year's squad. Tyce Fitzmorris, a junior, ' who will be back next year, scored a total twelve TD's for the Indians this year. The coaching staff, as well as many others, were quite pleased with the improve' ment that all the boys made during the season. Next year's team will have more experience and should do another good job in representing Fremont. Although they finished in the bottom half of league standings, Fremont gave every team a difficult time. League games were lost to only two schools: Santa Clara, second, and Sunnyvale, who took the championship with a perfect season. Lack of team Hnesse under pressure caused our losses. Coach Kline The "D" basketball team had a very successful season, with 8 wins and only 3 losses. The "D's" this year had two outstanding players, Alex Fecanin - 93 points, and Massaki Egusa - 74 points. An outstanding point of the season was the 2923 upset of the league leading Campbell Bucs. This was a comeback after Fremont had lost 3 consecutive games. Our "D's" made a good comeback and proved themselves true fighters.
