Senior Class h7sfor y Memories. just memories. Tlmt's nll that is left of those four years you called "your high school years." Remember the year? 1960-61-It ull began-you were Freshmen. Remember how proud you were? You seemed to he aglow with pride, because you had finally left Junior High und you were ai Freshman. No mutter how lowly the upper-classmcn treuted you, you still felt superior. There was absolutely no dcnting of your pride...after ull, you were the clnss of 'G-4. To represent you in Student Council that year you chose Kny Emerick, Gloria Neher, John Fitzpatrick, Lnurie Walker, and Jim Mugee. Cheryl Lips took her place in the Queen's Court ns a representative of your class. To manage your class business you chose Doug Powers, President, Cheryl Lips, Vice- President, Shelley McCormick, Secreturyg und Iohn Darling, Trea- surer, with the help of your head class sponsor, Miss Orr. Of course you remcmher that year, it was zu young and exciting year, a yeur like yourselves, an your full of fun und surprises, a year for exploring and lunrning. Think hack, you'll remember it. 1961-62-Sophomorcs you were then. You'd settled into the routine of school. That year you really belonged. You found too, through the help of upperclussmcn, that you were not as important to the school ns you hucl imagined you were, but still you belonged and that was what was important, remember? Yet through it all you never lost your pride in your cluss-nfter all, you were the class of '64. Your henfl sponsor was Mr. Cooper. With his help and the help of your oiliccrs, Bill Jihson, President, john Morrison, Vice-President, jan Van Sloten, Secretary, and Sandy Wilson, Treasurer, ulong with the able assistance of Student Council Rep- resentatives Kriy Emerick, Laurie Walker, Pat Stroven, Bob Voss, :ind Jim Furclu you made it through your Sophomore year with flying colors. You also remember Cheryl Lips again represented your eluxs in the Homecoming Court and Laurie Walker wus voted Princess of the Mid-Winter Festival. With the festival over there wus not much left to do except wait with great anticipation for your junior Yeur. l962-63- Your Junior Year. You could feel the excitement as you began that yuzirg you knew of the important things tlmt the year would hold. You could feel grnduntion getting closer, nnd what was once so distunt could he seen now, in the not so distant future. Most of you hurried down in the early full to get your clnss rings that would prove to everyone thnt you were the class of '64. You wore them with pride, well why shouldn't you he proud -after nll, you were the clnss of '64, President john Purminter, Vice-President Dick Peters, Secretary Jun Van Sloten, and Trea- surer Boh Howurd c-lnlrlered und guided you that year, and were in turn guided by head sponsor, Mr. Brown. You had elected to the Student Council tlmt yc-nr the following: Cheryl Lips, Pat Stroven, Laurie YVnlkcr, lioh Voss, jim Magee, Andy Jend and Barb Weiden. During the football season of your Junior year, you chose for Homecoming representative Laurie WVnll-ner. Later in the year your class was honored by having one of your classmates elected King of the Mid-Winter Festival - Javier Sepulveda. Junior year was near- ing its end when you started plans for the Junior Play, which was n collection of five one-act plays, directed by Miss Sogge. Also in that year you honored the class of '63 hy sponsoring the annual junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. For the theme you chose "Evening in Paris.: 2lVith the completion of the Prom your final year was c ose at mn . 1963-64- Of course you have little trouble at all remembering that year, for it was truly "your year." You had journeyed through those four years running into and overcoming obstacles at every turn, hut you had Hrmlly made itg you were Seniors. You swelled with pride ut the mere mention of "Senior" and why not- after all, you were the class of '64. As you entered your Senior year, your L-hiss elected John Frens, Presidentg Marc Scott, Vice-President, Cookie Meyer, Seeretaryg and jan Klassen, Treasurer. You were proud of the part that the Senior class played in your student government, because there were sixteen of you in the Student Council. Senior Representatives were Alan Bennett, Mary Wake- Held, Karen McNeill, Merrilee, Smith, Chick Gerber, and Andrea Myers. Others of you were Pat Stroven, Presidentg jim Magee, Vice-Presiclentg Barb Wieden, Secretary, John Darling, Treasurer, and Cabinet members Karen Hawkey, Shore the Fare, Shelley McCormick, Assemblies, Bob Voss, Dance, Carol Frodey, Halls, Laurie XValker, Student Activitiesg and Tim Truman, Finance. Your chief sponsor was Mrs. Boerman, who was assisted by Miss Elmrgiesk giss Van Horn, Mr. Adair, Mr. Durkee, Mr. Smith, aim r. n in. - You remember how much fun you had working at the Senior Sale, the many nights of canvasing and the Sale itself. YVhi1e most of you were working on the Sale there were the others who were concentrating on making the Senior Play a success. Mr. Kidder directed the play, "The Diary of Anne Frank," starring Kay Demmon, Tim Truman, Shelley McCormick, and Chick Gerber. From the six queen candidates, consisting of Vicki Hall, Cheryl Lips, Laurie Walker, Cookie Meyer, Shelley McCom1ick, and Pat Stroven, you und the rest of the student body selected Cookie Meyer ns Homecoming Queen. Your class was again honored at the Mid-NVinter Festival, hy the election of Marianna Jonsson, Queen, and Volker Schutte, King. Then ns the year neared its end you as Seniors became involved in all the last activities of high school, college applications and ncceptamces, the Senior Party, the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom honoring you, the exams, Baccalaureate and Commencement. With Commencement Exercises came the end of high school. You were saddened and yet glad with anticipation of things to come. But above everything you were aglow with pride because you were something that no other graduating class of Fremont had been before- "You were the Class of '64." Memories, just memories.
