.l nw, mwuq.. Four hundred trembling LlUs gathered in Snow- land Quclitorium on the Saturday before this term began and learned the history of the school, its traditions an d govern- ment. They were shivering with excitement Csnow foolin'l. Qfter the ice was broken and they had settled down for a term's, stay with us, they seemed to enjoy our social activities, especially the Block F party given for the boys and the Big-Little Sister trip to Mother-Gooseland given to the girls. 3 P A 1 . :fl ..:' 7-A'5 iQ f 45 fi : 5 f -,. .. ess- A - '-L .4 'E' 1, . sf A et. ff ',f. Soldier and sailor figures stood in front of the Plmerican Flag as part of the red, white and blue decorations. Low Iunior Iournal The L11 class established a welcoming com- mittee headed by Mary Pope, to acquaint the new Low Iuniors with affairs at Fremont. tNoth- ing cold or wintry about themll High Iunior Theme Eskimo Capers was the theme of the H11 dance given on December 4, 1941. Edith Mac- Namara was general chairman of this event which was held in that enormous lce Palace, the Brasefield Gym. Low Senior Winter Carnival Qttired in frilly aprons, the L12 girls towed their L10 Little Sisters through the make-be- lieve land of Mother Goose. During their too- short stay, they were welcomed by Miss Patri- cia Moorshead and Marge Manhard, general chairman. They had so much fun meeting nursery rhyme characters, waving large red balloons and eating all-day suckers, that they were reluctant to leave. SNOWFLAKES OF MEMORY Beautiful scenes of yesterday Flash through my mind and melt into snow flakes of memory. Two meetings were held by the L12 class to familiarize themselves with future opportuni- ties in college and the business worldy one for the commercial students and one for the col- lege students. Mr. Richard Kretsinger, principal of Central Trade School, and Mr. S. D. Benbow, principal of Merritt Business School, spoke to the commercial group and Professor Harper of the University of California spoke to the future college students. Carnival Season for Entire Student Body ln this term's winter carnival, we had four after-school dances, including the one spon- sored by the Block F Society honoring the foot- ball squad. Of our two night dances, our favor- ite was the l-lallowe'en Dance held for couples only. In company with witches and goblins we danced to the music of Homer Nalty's band. We scooted, skated, floundered and fell at the skating party sponsored by the Block F Society which was held in the Dimond Roller Rink. Saving our money in the Fremont tSnowl Bank, we Were able to buy tickets for a second party they gave in the Oakland Boller-land. No term at Fremont has ever had better as- semblies than the one just passed. Especially did we enjoy the Nutrition Fund assembly with its characters, Daisy May, Lil' Hbner and Mammy and PCIPDYH and its setting, a large barn. Term Plays Hdds to Carnival Spirit Under the skillful direction of the new drama teacher, Mr. Henry Hobson, the term play Berkeley Square was presented by the les- ters' Workshop on December 5. The cast was headed by losephine Northege and Clyde Stul- macher, aided by Ierry Martinson, Cleao Cox, Beatrice Biron, Shirley Chapper, Bob Nichols, Qian Levey, Qlfred Hbraham, Louis lllssalena and many others. We, the class of lanuary '42, hope that as you read our summary of this term's activities, you will not forget us, the senior class who climbed the icy peaks and snowy glaciers with you in 1941.
