SKIING THROUGH In the frost-bitten months of l939, about 250 of us mushed into Fre- mont for the first time. It was a cold blizzardly Saturday, as we remem- ber, and Fremont seemed like an enormous medieval castle with which we would never become familiar. Taken into the frigid igloo, tauditor- iumi we first learned the school hymn and yellsy this was followed by a tour through the gigantic build- ing where we struggled through a maze of halls and doorways until 13253- fm-Au H f THE YEARS .... 'Pa helped to make it a gala party. Then a Grand March climaxed the pro- gram by leading to refreshments which came from doughnut trees and cider streams of Pleasure Island. With Mrs. Mohr as our Ski Tow, we ascended the hill into the Lll. lim Duncan, as class president, helped her keep us on the trail. With clear skies and bright sun, we burst into spring with the Lll Mothers' . , W M I -2259 rf '55 E it il 71. 43:-f, - : Ui . f' e L-'-1 'ff' . .1 xii? h Qfuzff .. -,::p.'5E,WgML -V,-q., 2-:gf Zig, V . if 3'- zs EP- 4 3 l ' I l Bill 1 1 if rig - ,Ez Zi i 5. nib' 'il ff .-'. The greater part of our first six months was spent in skiing around the halls and receiving twhat we thought werei icy glances from the upper-classmen. Bob House was our class- chairman and guided us through the stormy season. The ice was broken when we girls were guests at the Big-Little Sister Party which had as its theme Pllice in Wonderlandnp but we stopped wondering after the pink lemon- ade and cookies! ln the fall of 1939, Bob House steered us, as we whizzed down the Toboggan Slide into the H 10. ln November we really became acquaint- ed at our Sophomore Hop. Sterling Smith was its able chairman. We'll never forget the fun we had at Pleasure Island and we'll always remember the Marionette Show with Eugene StromboIi Balugo aided by his stooge, Hal Foulfellow Byland and Eleanor Wright, the lovely Spanish Senorita. Catherine Williams and her talking piano, those tapsters Helen Roberts and Pat Van Noy, and last but not least, Pinocchio portrayed by Ward Crick, Tea. Eleanor Wright was general chairman of the affair. Irma Souza, Leola Iohnson, and Sterling Smith warbled sweet melodies. Tom Miller strummed the gui- tar and Catherine Williams performed at the piano. In the midst of spring flowers, tea, sand- wiches and cookies were served. When autumn came, amid the fall of leaves in harvest-time, Indian Summer became the theme of our lunior Prom. Big Chief Ken Qbbott, assisted by Little Braves Dale Risdon and Pat Working, formed the general committee in charge of the event. The Indian Summer theme was carried throughout the program by a skit written by Bob Nichols called Indian Chief or Whom Shall I Marry? lane Hardy, Mar- garet Cooney, Faith Reynolds and Sterling Smith added to the entertainment. It was a grand pow-pow but no one was scalped. On our snow-shoes we tracked into the LIZ, with Ieanette Baglini heading the procession. Ht this time we gave our Big-Little Sister Party. The theme was Spring Parade and many models paraded new fashions from dit- ferent shops. Leola Iohnson, Margaret Cooney and Ioanne Younger sang and lane Hardy furnished the music.
