Sports Summary Although the varsity football team made only a fair record in the O.A.L,, ntramural track and football made the fall term a success through close, com- etitive playing. The Tiger gridsters ended the season with four defeats, two ties, and one in, but really put up a better fight than the record shows. In nearly every ncounter the Green and Gold squad were the aggressors, outplaying their pponents completely, only to lose the games by the desertion of Lady Luck. scoreboard jinx seemed to hover over the Bengals as they failed to reach pay irt 'in any of the 'home games and scored but twice in the entire season. The Berven eleven, known as the best defensive team in the league, were Eeaten only once by more than one touchdown. In the Tiger line, Marsh, Wes- er, Gardiner, Carr, Darrimon, Beach, and Devine were outstanding while Vlorris, Baron, Daily, and Way were the mainstays in the backfield. Intramural activities proved successful this term with fifty-three boys report- ,ng for track and at least sixty-five for football. Five Cinder meets were held with the high seniors and low juniors staging a great duel for first-place honors. The third-year ,men eked out a one-point victory over the low elevens in the inal battle to give them the championship. Every event was close and thrilling and many old intramural records were broken. Gardiner, Kitchel, and Widel were the main point getters for the seniors, fvhile George, Sanford, Morjig, Mathews, and Theobald were the other strong nen in the competition. The interclass football league proved as exciting as the track events with .he final title playoff narrowingfdown to the Iohns I team and the Morrison VI group. In the semifinal game the lohns I squad trounced the Iohns IV team nine- :een to six to earn the right to play in the championship bout. Full of fight and etermination, Team I defeated Team VI thirteen to six only after a most desper- te battle. I For the pigskin winners the Searls twins, Williams, Roland, Delguidice, Grounds, Garetson and Bokanich were outstanding. coAcH HAL BERVEN
