gaye' ' ' Delegates, left to right: Bob Bailey, Ron Vanoss, Willy Fossey, Bob Newton, Bill Hayes, and .lim Thurston. The object of Boys' State shall be to provide citizenship training for boys of high school age within the State of Wyoming, to afford them the opportunity to live together as self-governing citizens and to inform them about the duties, privileges, rights and responsibilities of American citizens in order that they may understand and participate in the functioning of our government. Each boy takes an active part in the recreation and also in the workings of the government, learning by being a member of the House of Representatives, a member of the Senate, or by belonging to the Courts. Each boy is required to try for an office of either State or County value in mock elections held. ,lim Thurston won the office of Secretary of State. Girls' State to us was an experience of a life time. In one week we learned such a great deal about our govern- ment and being a good citizen, we wish every girl could have the opportunity. We became acquainted with a girl in every town in Wyoming. You learn there is always one better and to be a good loser. Charlotte Brown was elected page in the legislature and councilman of her city. Joan Earl as assistant parole officer and Mary Kay Cheney councilman of her city. Really you can't lose at Girls' State because you have won by being selected to attend. 5 Q Delegates, left to right: Charlotte Brown, Joni Earl, Mary Kay Cheney. Alternates, left to right: Lynda Rogers, Shirley Claycomb, Kay Lyon.
