VVhat is so rare as a day in june? No one is arguing with Mr. Lowell, hut we think he made a mistake in limiting it to one month. All summer long our ree liugees from a gym class were relaxing from the rigors of study and hrainwork and could he seen enjoying the various forms ol' open air activities. Events in general ran smoothly and quietly, Es' pecially tanned hy Septemher were those lucky' persons VVll0 worked lklr the Pklfli hoard, teaching the hefman games ol' tennis, archery, hasehall, swimming, etc. l wonder if' those youngsters ever did manage to hit the target. It was August helore they found out that the howfstrings were sup' posed to he drawn tight hefore they' shot the arrows. Victory gardens fit was a victory if you could stand up straight again after a session of weed' pullingl were popular. and really, many hne crops were raised hy fellows and girls around our fair city fjuniorl You're PAGE I I three carrots short again tonight. Hikes were numerous, and hieycle hikes more so. The druggists made a fortune on ruhlving alcohol and sunhurn ointment. Nearly every day some fellows managed to heat the hasehall around, and the glrls gcncrkllly rnglnllgfd to show folks that they knew tennis just as well as anyone else, Those who weren't espec' ially allergic to the stull had a great time detasseling corn, making spending money and raising large lwlisters at the same time lhot sun, that isl. Last, hut hy no means least, many local employers had humpei' crops of employees and kept a good many kids out of mischief- during the day. 14 lm
