told her what I was domg She thought It to be an excellent plan The stoppmg of the tram drew our conversatxon to a close We had reached Chxcago At the breakfast table ln the hotel the following mormng I sat opposnte a tall hungry lookmg gentleman whom I learned was Russell Knoble a salesman for the Fred Taylor Incubator Works My new found fnend a busy man left on an early tram and much as I wlshed to talk to hum of my purpose In travelmg I was unable to do so H C Russell Laxble as travehng for some Freeport farm what lt IS I can t remember K H I m afrald the author has mlssed some of these people who haven t settled down In one place H C Barbara Anderson and Helen Hoy are ln Europe studymg art K H It seems almost lmposslble for one man to look up the whole number of graduates CRe sumes lnterest In bookl CContmuesJ On leav mg the hotel I sauntered down the street I hadn t gone far when I notxced the name Bee Langenstexn on the wmdow of a small pawn shop I should have liked to talk to hlm but was mformed by the clerk that Mr Langenstem the proprietor had not yet arrnved On leavmg the store a large yellow dehvery wagon attracted my attentnon The sign out my hst and found the name I thought I had seen the name before I reallzed It was near dmner time so I then returned to the hotel At ten oclock the followmg mormng I vnsxted the court house having learned from the news paper that ,luha Wheat was charged with assault mg I-stelle Davls one dark mght whlle she was commg home from a vnsxt wnth Helen Palmer and Iuclle Smith two spmster maxds who hved to gether on Thirty Second Street The lawyer for the defense was Dorothy Place a promlnent lawyer of New York The Judge ln charge of the court was Wescott Walker Some of the members of the jury were Ruth Wlcks Helen Wells Gertrude McDerm1d and Mable Ballschmxdt all members of the Class of 15 The court was dxsmlssed wlthout a decxslon On my return to the hotel I narrowly e caped bemg run over by a truck belong mg to the jastram Wnlds Dry Goods Company drlven by Leo Koehler It was only through the efforts of Phlhp Youngblood a policeman statxoned nearby that I escaped sernous mjunes I learned from Phxl that he was a member of the C lass of I5 He also stated that Kathleen McCoy Eva Murdaugh and Lucretxa Porter were clerks with jastram W1lds Company Thxs firm I learned mamtams a specxal ha1r dressing de art ment
