To say that Dean Hulbert has unselfishly given of himself to encourage academic development at Frederick Col- lege would in no way be an exaggeration. ln addition, Dean Hulbert has taken a per- sonal interest in the well-being of the in- dividual student. He has the talent to com- municate with each student, helping him to realize his potential. Dean Hulbert has shown his versatility by excelling as a faculty member as well as an administrator, by teaching a course in Russian History for the past two years. The student body as a whole looks upon Dean Hulbert not only as an administrator or faculty member, but also as their friend through whom they may become young adults, realizing their future and that of Frederick. Agony, agony, ag y 68 On May 29, 1967, ninety-nine members of the fifth graduating class of Frederick College received their degrees. Dr. Ernest R. Wood awarded the degrees with the assistance of the Honorable Justice Lawrence l'Anson and Dean Ellard Hulbert. lVlr. T.A. Willett, Superintendent of Richmond Public Schools was the principle speaker at the graduation ceremony. Following lVlr. Willett's address Dr. Wood presented Professor Arthur S. Withers with the honor of lVlere Emeritus, permanent status of Professor of English. Also at this time, Dr. Wood presented Dr. Roland H. Waters a citation for his contributions to the field of Psychology. The honor candidates were then presented, followed by Pete Smith being commissioned into the Navy. To the tune of the school hymn, the graduating se- niors filed out of the Arena taking a part of Frederick with them but leaving an impact on every aspect of the college. President, led off the activities with the lighting of the flame. The competition was strong and the spirits were high as each organization raced, jumped, pulled, and dodged to acquire a few points for his group. Finally as the last event was con- cluded andthe points were totaled, Alpha Sigma Delta and Kappa Sigma Phi were announced as the winners. XS x t Uk vw , X, X -sf ' X A YV- NS ' ' , Sq -' ,- . This cannot be a reflection on the team per se or the coaching staff. We were plagued by both inex- perience and mistakes as well as bad luck. Coach Tall- man was new this year and his innovations may well have helped the team had there not been a number of petty instances which kept morale low. We do owe our team a lot for playing very hard even when Lady Luck was not on our side. Our men put out one-hundred percent under some ofthe most adverse conditions. nmmzuming 1957 Zawya ,ww . 9 ff I 7 rederirk 44 , f pwumm 4 i 5 i i 1 1 X Cgallzxurlet the football team since the first Homecoming 1967 upheld the tradition of Homecoming game: a win.
