Cross Country Trudges On The 1976 edition of the FHS varsity cross country team struggled its way through a mediocre 4-7 season. The team got off to a fast start, winning its First three dual meets. They sandwiched these victories around a third-place finish against Shenandoah, Yorktown, and Mt. Vernon for a 3-2 record. The Eagle harriers won against Alex before hitting a tailspin. They lost to Ham. Hts., dropped a three-way meet to Ham. Hts. and Lapel, then dropped another three-way. The harriers didn’t fare so well in the invitationals. The best they could manage was Fifth out of nine at Sheridan. Of the 23 teams in the sectional, the Eagles mustered a 16th place showing. Kevin Hudson, owner of three class records, was selected ‘Most Valuable Runner.’ Mike Sheward, owner of the other class record, was elected team captain.
