New Honor Society Replaces NHS An exclusive National Honor Society saw its last year at FHS. Led by pres. Lisa Wittkamper and sec.-treas. Gail Brown, these seniors were chosen for their scholastic achievement, lead- ership, character, and service. A new organization, simply called ‘Honor Society’, will automati- cally include the top 0% of the junior and senior classes. NHS members hosted the in- duction ceremony for the new Honor Society members on March 6. Mr. Nash spoke at the meeting and introduced next year’s sponsor, Mr. Ivan Lamaster. Council Expands Activities Officers for 1976-77 were Mike Sheward (pres.), Lana Canfield (v.-pres.), and Betsy Brown (sec.- treas.). Along with Mike, Jana Sheward. Robyn Truex, and The- resa Weaver attended the state Student Council convention at Delta High School. They brought back many new ideas for money- making projects and raising school spirit. They also helped to sponsor many activities, including the Homecoming parade and dance, school convocations, and “Par- ent’s Day” at which 21% of the parents attended classes for their children. The Elwood Elks sponsored “Teenagers of the Month,” which the student council helped select, among those named were Mickey Dawson, Theresa Weaver. Eagles Claim First Homecoming Victory When the Lapel Bulldogs came to town on Sept. 17, The Frank- ton Eagles were ready. Although first year coach Bob Schar- nowske’s team was 1-3 the Eagles dominated the first half and went on to a 30-6 win. The win gave Frankton its first homecoming win ever. After the homecoming win, bad luck came to town. The Eagles came up on the short end against Highland, Ham. Hts., Wes-Del, and Tri-Central. First-time opponent Edinburgh came to town. The first half was close, and the Eagles took command in the sec- ond half for a 36-22 win.
