Class Hlstory The class of 1957 began IIS exrstence w1th forty four pup1ls under the d1rect1on of Mrs Klmmerlmg For our second grade teacher, we had Mrs Hughes In our thrrd year class we had Mrs Copeland as our teacher The fourth year we were under the drrectxon of Mrs K1mmerl1ng once agaln Our f1fth and s1xth grade teachers for the class of '57 were Mrss Howard and Mrs Wr1ght respect1ve1y As a class HCIIVILY rn the S1XLl'l grade, we had a paper drnve to start our f1nanc1a.1 goal In the seventh grade we sold PCDCIIS as ou.r means of makxng money In the erghth grade our project was se1l1ng Chr1st mas cards to the publxc Our offrcers 1n our Freshman year were pres1dent, B111 Fr1end, vlce presrdent, Ruth Wmdsor, secre tary, Carolyn W1mer, treasurer, Paul Lennon, and the DUSIDCSS manager Roger D1ck1nson Our sponsors for the Freshman year were M1ss Dreger and Mr Hunter The Sophomore year found the class of '57 w1th the same sponsors and the class OEICCIS were P11651 dent, B111 Frrend, v1ce presxdent, Ruth W1ndsor, secretary, Kay Kallner, treasurer, Paul Lennon, and the busmess manager, Roger DlCklDSOD Our class rlngs arrxved near the Thanksgrvmg season We llked them very much Also, they d1dn't stay Wlthln the class very long, for var1ous reasons AsJun1ors we found that we had a money mak1ng respons1b111ty of keep1ng the pop mach1nes fllled for the students at noon and for the public at the basketball games We chose turquolse and wh1te for our class sweaters whrch have seen plenty of wear durxng our Jumor and Senlor years As our class offxcers, we elected pres1dent, B111 Frrend, VICE pres1dent, Tom Lee, secretary, Kay Kallner, treasurer, Paul Lennon, and the busmess manager, Max Zent Near the close of the semester we had our Junxor Class Play, It's a Great L1fe, a three act comedy under the d1rect1on of Mr Nash Tuesday, September 4, 1956, brought a happy year to the class of '57 It was the last lap of our four year race We, be1ng amb1t1ous students, began the year r1ght by sellxng 1ce cream the f1rst day of school Our class off1cers were presldent, Roger D1Ck1DSOD, v1ce presldent, B111 Frxend, secretary, a Kallner, treasurer, Paul Lennon, and the bus1ness manager, Merrxll Metcalfe Jesse Greene from the I. G Balfour Company met wxth us on September 6 to take orders for our O October 1, we started our advertxsmg campalgn to fmance the ' EAGLITE After one month of hard work, we had f1n1shed th1s part Russell Forkner of the Elrte SU.ldlOS asked that our PICIUIES be taken between October 10 and Novem ber ll The annual Halloween Fest1val was held Octobe 31 rn the gym Our class was very much 1n ev1 dence w1th our cake walk MuS1C3llt16S, and the na11 dr1v1ng contest We had a f1sh fry dur1ng the fall and the g1rl members of our class acted as hostesses at a dlnner sponsored by the local c1v1c group We voted on the g1rl member of our class who was to rece1ve the DAR award The award, wh1ch IS g1ven by the Daughters of the Amerlcan Revolut1on goes lo the grrl whom the class votes the best Cltl zen for om' four years 1n h1gh school Many thmgs are consrdered 1n th1s 1nc1ud1ng c1t1zensh1p, mterest rn the class and scholast1c average We were happy to learn that Lmda Drake rece1ved th1s honor Another stage 1n events was reached on December 21, when the school was d1sm1ssed for the Chr1st mas llOlld21yS It was then the Senrors fmally began to reahze how nearly our h1gh school days were over We returned from vacat1on January 2, 1957 full of Chrlstmas candy and turkey to flnd that we were faced wlth semester exams However, we all came through w1th flymg colors and were ready to start our last semester 1n good old F H S On February 13 we f1n1shed the work on the annual and sent the f1nal proofs to the prmter We were very glad to have the job fxmshed and felt as lf we had worked hard on lt We rece1ved the f1I1lSl'l6d book 1n Aprll and found that lt had sold very well Apr1l 13 we left on our long awaxted Semor tr1p to Waslungton, D C , New York West Pomt and other pomts of mterest We toured on two M1ller Tours buses We returned tlred but happy on Apr1l 21 We presented our class play Hotheaded Herbert a comedy on Apr1l ll and 12, whlch proved to be very successful Baccalaureate SEIVICE was held rn the gymnasmm Reverend Otto C Stroup delrvered the address We were then ready for our fmal week of h1gh school Our Commencement serv1ces were on the even1ng of May 23 We rece1ved our drplomas and were of.f1c1ally graduated 19 O I I - I . . . . , - . , . , . . . . . . . . . . . . , . - . . . , K Y C I b , name cards and graduation announcements. n ' ' ' ' I ll . . 1 , . . .- . . , . . . . . , . .
