As we are soon to depart from F.l-1.5. as graduates of 1958, let us for a few minute s glance back to the happy years we have spent and see that the history that we shall leave behind will not cause regret to a single member of 1958. That August day of 1954 on which 42 members of the class of 1958 met has not faded from our memory. How proud we were to be Fresh- men in aHighSchool. We were certain that we would be the most brilliant students in sc hool. Mr. Carlton Langston was our homeroom teacher. We began our year at Ramseur High School and later moved to the Baptist Church Educational Building. Our Freshman year was filled with many exciting and funny incidents like the last day when Mrs. Earlene Ward kept 13 boys after school. One year later, we bec am e Sophomores! Mrs. Edith Morgan was our beloved hom e room teacher, We were also happy to move into a section of our new building. During that year we suffered -a terrible loss - the burning of our gymnasium which handicapped our ball teams. InAugust of 1956, we returned for our Junior year. We were privi- leged to have Mrs. Irene Frazier as our sponsor. A. T. Beane Jr. was elected President, Nancy Vuncannon, Vice-president, Adrian Pugh, Sec- retary, and Harvey Ferree, Treasurer. We added many memories that year. We had aChristmas Party in the school cafeteria. After our class rings arrived, we were proud to show them to the underclassmen, Four m em be r s of our class were elected Marshalls, Verna Hall, Nancy Vuncannon, Elaine Hopkins, and Martha Wright. The Junior-Senior Banquet was the highlight of that year with the theme "Southern Planta- tion". Our banquet, under the direction of Mrs.Fraz.ier, was so success- ful that it was worth all the work we put into it. Then came May, when we presented Daisy Arches to the departing Seniors and sang the "Fare- well Song" on graduation night, May ZZ., 1957, Back again in the Fall of 1957 the r e were only ZZ 'istudents in our class and Mrs. Janie Middleton was our homeroom teacher. With Adrian Pugh as our Presidentg and Nancy Vuncannon,Vice-presidentg Jane York, Secretaryg and John Higgins, Treasurer, we proceeded toward graduation. Our grade-parents e nte rtained the class with a wonderful Christmas supper we shall never forget. The annual staff and members of the class worked hard with the Editor of The Cardinal, Nancy Vuncannon, on a suc- cessful annual for 1958. The major part of our high sc hool days is now history. We have le arn e d much since that August morning four years ago, and much we have left unlearned. With grateful hearts we have watched our school rise again. Now we shall be bound forever byties of class friendship and loyalty to our school. So here's to you, dear classmates, the best wishes to e ac h of you through the coming years, . . . may each of you go forward to the highest goal and always keep the memory of the Class of 1958. REMEMBERING Just sitting here remembering those happy school days past And wishing they could continue, but good things never last. Remembering all those friends and the happy times we've had Thinking of our leaving soon, it makes us feel so sad. Our minds recall-yet wonder too-what the future will call us to do. Will we attain to the standards we've set, and come nearer life's goal without a regret? Have our teachers done their duty so well, that in whatever town or country we dwell, An example before men and women we'll be, unashamed for any to see ? But wherever we go, whatever we do, we owe our thanks, Alma Mater, to you For molding our lives and helping us start, as on the road of life we're about to depart. As onward through life we surely must go, and to all and sundry we surely must show A path so bright O class of '58, that our reunion would be at the heavenly gate.
