OF High School Days and the ioys they bring. And yet anticipates the very hour Of Graduation Day soon to be ours. And on the last blue night in May When we walk down the aisle our very last day, We'll think of all the Fun we have had And go through life being ever so glad. 'ti' 1 it To the future seniors we leave Forever, C ' Our good times and memories to cherish ever. Shirley Craven MASCOTS f I M... ,.,, 7, I L Joseph Edward Caviness, Jr. Cathy Rose 611155 flisfargf In September 1951, we the senior class of 1955 entered high school under the watchful eye of Mr. C. C. Andrews, our home-room teacher. The first few weeks were very exciting, but we finally settled down to the routine of high school life. We began by electing our freshman class officers with William H. Curtis as president. The activities of our Freshman year consisted of a few parties and wiener roasts, but our days were filled with all the wonders of high school life. The next fall, when we came back as Sophomores, our home room teacher was Mrs. Louise Allen. We elected our class officers, and again William H. Curtis was president. During that year we suffered a terrible loss, the burning of our school on January 1,.1953. We completed the rest of the year at Ramseur High School. We spent our Junior year at Ramseur under the guidance of Mrs. Louise Allen, our teacher of the previous year. We added many memories that year. We had our Christmas Party at Betty Tippett's, and ordered our class rings after coming back from our Christmas holidays. Then came spring and with it preparations for the Junior-Senior Banquet and graduation. We sponsored the banquet in April, the theme of which was "An Old Fashioned Garden." We presented the daisy chain to the departing seniors and sang the farewell song on graduation night, May 21, 1954. We started our Senior Year at Ramseur, but moved back to Franklinville and began classes in the Baptist Church Education Building. Our senior year was the most exciting of all. Miss Katherine Buie, our Senior Sponsor, gave us the guidance and able advice we needed for all our activities. The annual staff and members of the class devoted much time and hard work to the publication of the annual, The Cardinal. As the last semester rolled around, we seniors found our school days much too short for all the preparations of the commencement season. The time, which had seemed ages twelve years ago, had passed entirely too quickly. Now that we actually faced the future, we were filled with much dread and confusion, but on graduation night, as we walked down the aisle, we turned our thoughts toward the new day for the class of '55. Nancy McKinnon Historian Glass Prophecy Sometimes strange things happen to us, mysterious gifts sometimes fall "out of the blue" into our hands when we least expect them. This strange thing happened one day when a newspaper, dated May 7, 1966, dropped from the clear sky. Where it came from and what it all signifies no one knows. We opened the paper and to our surprise there before our eyes was the future of the graduating class of 1955. Let's begin with the sports section first, O. K.? Doug Allred, who is now pitching in his second World Series Game, is still trying to pitch a no-hitter. l'm sure if we all stay behind him he will turn out fine. Oh boy! iust look at our big Marley, he is also trying to make headlines like his brother, Johnny Marley. l'm sure we all remember our clear ol' Marley boys. Yes, our little Don Allred is still at it, too. He now plays pro-basketball with Boston. Doing pretty well for himself, l read. He has a 20 point average. Sonny Kirby, coach at State, was at the first practice of the "Cardinals" at the opening of the basketball season. All the kids remembered him from his picture in the paper when our old champs defeated Trinity 65 to 68. Boy, what a thrilling game. Since Thomas Kivett liked to drive busses so well, he is now driving a bus for the Queen City Trailway. Whose large Tailoring Shop is that on Fifth Avenue? Our future came to us for some unknown reason, but we were very happy to share this thrilling experience with everyone. That, fellow readers was the Class of '55. Shirley Craven, Prophet las! Will and Zesfamrrzf We, the graduating class of 1955, realizing that the close of our school clays is near at hand, think it wise to leave something to those who in the future will undertake to fill our places. In the course of our high school days, naturally, we have accumulated various and valuable possessions, our years have been fruitful. We have ac- quired an vast store of knowledge along with other things that will help us through our lives. Since we are burdened with some superfluous possessions, we think it wise to dispose of them, too, we realize that the school would have a great loss without us or our valuable possessions. The underclassmen, especially the Juniors, would be handicapped if we took all our valuable assets. To our faithful and long suffering principal, Mr. Holland, we leave our heartfelt gratitude for his helpfulness and co-operation in leading us to our goal. To our sponsor, Miss Buie, to whom we are very much indebted for her leadership and guidance, we leave our wishes that she may have a class iust as she wants it to be. To our teachers, who are our friends and helpers, we leave our wishes that the incoming students will be more willing to abide by the rules and regulations.
