Jil, - 7 1 5 A V , fi 1 , il e 155. i: A TENTH GRADE NINTH GRADE As the class ofA'66 started into the last year of junior high, the following people were chosen as their class of- ficers: President, Les Lanyon, Vice-President, George Kem- erer, and Secretary, Sherry Donato. To make money to add to the class treasury, the class sold cashews. The climax of the year, the "Cinderella Ball" was held in the cafeteria, during which Les Lanyon and Nancy Lohmann reigned as Prince and Princess of the dance. Promotion exercises were held in the gymnasium the day after the dance. The biggest event of the class of '66 as sopho- mores was t.he annual trip to Gettysburg. Although the trip was to be an educational one, the class members had more fun teasing the congenial bus sponsors. At a class meeting early in the year, Andy Noble, Jeff Riley, and Marsha Phillips were chosen as class officers. As sophomores, it was a class responsibility to sponsor the Valentine's dance, "The Sweetheart Swing," which we did successfully. Marsha Phillips and Nancy Lohmann were chosen as May Day representatives that year. Eugene Zecker and Bob DeSantis served as respective es- corts. TWELF TH GRADE To end their high-school days, the class of '66 chose Mark Bush, Joe Rupert, and Nancy Lohmann to lead them to their final goal-graduation. The two senior dances were "Plymouth Rock," and '6Noel By Night." To make money the seniors sold license plates, and sponsored a bake sale during the class play. "The Man Who Came To Dinner" the successful play, had as leads Rex Peppel and Nancy Lohmann. Elaine Hoener and Joe Rupert, the "might-mites," were chosen as Student Council leaders who did a fine job of governing the student body. End of the year activi- ties for which the seniors are eagerly awaiting are the Washington trip, and the senior banquet. 6 The junior year of the class of '66 proved to be the most successful and a most enjoyable one. Les Lanyon was elected as class president again, with Joe Rupert as Vice-President, and Nancy Lohmann as Secretary, to help him carry the heavy load that was to be our responsibility that year. To raise money we sold Franklin sweatshirts, and we held a bake sale during the class play. The junior dance, "Bewitched," was a success and a unique idea of serving cider and donuts at t.he dance was established. The Junior Class Play, directed by Mr. Jacobs, was "The Night of January 16th." Judy Grable and Autumn Justice with Alan Bates and Eugene Zecker as escorts represented the junior class in the May court. The most success- ful event of the year was the Junior Prom, "Carou- sel." The committee of forty people began planning in early March for what was to be the "most suc- cessful prom in five yearsf' Gerry Regrut was Prom Queen and Vicki Dubrock was Prom Prin- cess. ,...-- XNPN N Malik ,,-f jf rf' f .--f X 1 ,...,-1s--' Wim W, ,.4.,..--v I R Q? ...Q , ,, Q,1.., ,, ,L , .Q,,SX ,, ,, Wg ,5L y?ELQ3: ,H :K Lg., f.: . , , W - . ,. 1 CLASS OFFICERS: L-R-Joe Rupert, Vice. Band BAND The Franklin Area Panther Band, under the direction of Mr. Donald Green, and student director, James Dash, experienced a "first" in their marching career this year. The 80-member Panther Band marched in the televised Thanksgiving Day parade in Pittsburgh. It was an experience the band members will not soon forget. Besides this parade, the band marched in a parade 'celebrating the centennial of a town called Bolivar. The band presented precision drills at all of the football games, and pregame shows at all of the home football games. Our Panther Band also appeared at pep-rallies, community affairs, and the Stadium Review. Besides all of the marching performances, the band also had three successful concert presentations: the Christmas Concert, the "Pops" Concert and the Spring Concert. The newly formed Color Guard also marched along with the band on the field and in the parades. Without a doubt, the Panther Band enjoyed a successful year. MR. DONALD GREEN Band Director JAMES DASH Student Director I22 Dance Band Color Guard The Color Guard is a new ad- dition to the band this year. They marched with the band at half- time, in parades, and at the Stad- ium Review. Ann Haller, Marsha Frye, Marcy Donhoffner, Regina Kasprack. The days have passed rapidly and every moment is filled with unforgettable experiences. Now, with tears in my eyes and memories in my heart, I will soon leave my second country, my second home. As my departure becomes closer and closer, I look back .and wonder how it is possible. It is not a dream but a wonderful reality getting to live with such a nice family, meeting help- ful people and attending the most friendly school. I will be forever grateful to the American Field Service, my American family, The Bentes, the school faculty as well as the students who have done so much for meg but what I will remember most is the love and friendliness they have given me. These memories I treasure in my heart are not to be locked away and forgotten but relived over and over with my Peruvian friends to encourage closer relations between our two countries. So at this point I would like to invite you to my country where you will always be welcome. Peru and the United States have many things in common but each have individual views that are unique to the requirements of that country. However, the main common factor is that both countries have the desire to give the best to their people . . . I learned that people are the same in this wide world and that language and distance are the only barriers. Everyone has something to learn from the next person and something to offer him. The universal language of t.he world is LOVE and this is beautifully described with the motto of the American Field Service Program: "Walk together, talk together, O Ye people of the earth: Then and only then shall Ye have peace." Hoping you will remember me Maruja Rivero Arias Araguez 613 San Antonio Miraflores Lima, Peru 1 Maruja presents Peruvian flag to Franklin. - -K Maruja talks with student. Maruja's first snow. Junior Prom The prom sponsored by the Class of '66 turned out to be one of the best, if not the best, Franklin has ever had. The theme of "Carousel" was executed beautifully with colors of pinks, lavenders and blues. The after prom party was held at the Red Rooster. The night proved to be a complete success. 2 La ,ss I x , ? -f.. is A AAIQ I30 fa. Geraldine Regrut Vicki Dubrock Prom Queen Prom Princess Adi- -3 f "' 2 - .
