May 27, 1938eThe memorial day program was enjoyed by every-
one. The Boys Glee Club sang Civil War songs and there were
several scenes of the war given by students of the 8A class of
Mr. Cytron.
June 2, 1938eThe Senior Girls Glee Club gave a program at the
Pacific Coast Club for the ladies, Club. It was enjoyed greatly.
June 3, 1938eThe Honor Health Club enjoyed a picnic at our fire
place.
June 3, 1938aE1izabeth Eaton was awarded the Lions Club award
for the outstanding scholarship and citizenship. She is our President
of Franklin.
June 6, 1938eThe Boys, Glee Club enjoyed a picnic by our new
fireplace.
June 7, 1938-Junior Librarians entertained their parents at a tea
iri the library of Franklin.
June 8, 1938-The Senior Girls, Glee Club enjoyed a fireside picnic.
June 9, 1938-The Home Arts classes staged their Spring Fashion
Show. 250 girls participated. The clothes were from shorts to
evening dresses. It was given as a playlet, as iiThe Old Woman in
the Shoe.,,
June 10, 1938eThe Achievement Society met in Franklin Hall for
their annual program and banquet. A play was also given.
June 16, 1938eAwards Day! Aren,t we glad we were good and
worked so hard!
June 16, 1938eC1ass Day for 9A,s with the Class of ,38 as luncheon
guests at the fireplace, and a program. Certificates were given to
the graduates. There was a representative from the 1933 gradu-
ation class. There was a representative from the February graduat-
ing class.

January 31, 1938eVVe welcomed in the new 7B,s.
February 4, 1938eThe 7B,s had their first assembly. It was a con-
cert given by Heinrich Hammeris Symphony Orchestra.
February 8, 1938-The 9A,s and the 8A,s saw world travel moving
pictures.
February 11, 1938eThe whole school celebrated the birthday of
Abraham Lincoln with an Assembly program.
February 18, 1938-The J. C. L. officers were installed by 1VIr.
Howland.
February 25, 1938--The Seventh Grade attended a cabinet meeting.
They enjoyed it very much.
March 11, 1938-Again we had the p1easure of Doctor Heinrich
Hammer and the WPA Symphony Orchestra.
March 17, 1938eThe Junior Civic League Cabinet presented
VHobbiesn as their topic for a P.-T. A. program. The talks
were very interesting.
March 18, 1938eA11 students enjoyed pictures shown by 1VIr. Fine,
whose niece, Glenna Hughes, is a Franklinite.
March 24-, 1938eMiss Walkefs third period Speech Class gave
ttThe Pampered Darling? It was very good.
March 25, 1938eCaptain Hancock sent some moving pictures of
birds and sea life, with John Garth, former Franklinite, as
speaker.
hilarch 31, 1938-Tree Planting Day, with the P.-T. A. as guests.
We appreciate our playground trees.
April 20, 1938eThe Ninth Grade attended the J. C. L. meeting.
April 25, 1938-eThe Junior Speakers and Physical Education class-
es presented to the P.-T. A. a program on Long Beach as a
recreational center.
April 28, 1938eThe Seventh and Eighth grades enjoyed a program
given by the first period Speech class and the Girls, Physical
Education department.
IWay 6, 1938-Pictures were shown on hlexico to the 8A,s and the
Spanish students.
May 7, 1938-The Boys, Glee Club presented a program. It was
enjoyed by everyone.
Rlay 10-11, 1938e-Miss Walkeris Speech Classes gave 11Uncle Bob,s
Bride? and HBlack Hands, in matinee performances after school.
May 20, 1938--The Annual Scholarship Banquet was held.
