Going into nearly every game, the high school was the underdog, but almost caused considerable upsets in the Mansfield and Uxbridge games. However the team really showed its stuff in the Thanksgiving Day Game when it set Medway back 31-6. Seniors on the team are tre-captains, Tony Lyon, Bud Vozzella, and Art Martin, Dean Peterson, Paul Socci, Bob Nasuti, Sid Ribero, Joe Henault, Alfred Mucciarone, Dick Doyle, Ed Cornell, and Don Vendetti. The annual Gridiron Club Banquet was held January 7, 1954 at the Parmenter School and awards were made to the outstanding lineman Bud Vozzella; runner-up Boh Nasuto; outstanding back Art Martin; runner-up Dean Peterson. ART MARTIN This year ' s basketball team had a good season, winning thirteen and losing six, under the coaching of Henri Beane. The team was unable to end on top in the Midland League, but every member was in there fighting all the way. They started the season quite strongly by winning their first two league games, but the opposition proved stronger for awhile following those two games. The team consisted of Captain Robert Vipraio, Harmon Smith, Art Martin, Don Led¬ bury, John Menadue, Phil Johnson, Freddy Yadersinia, and Dick D’Amico. Each Varsity player deserves a hand for a job well done. Next year the team will be without the backing of their present Captain Bob Vipraio. Bunky Smith, Arty Martin, Donny Ledbury, and Manager Bob Ristaino. We are confident, however, that Coach Beane will find good’material among the underclass¬ men.
