Tracy Meggs Tommy Newcombe Mafk WHSOH g FooTBAl.L The 1982-83 Rebel team, on the whole, had a good year with a record of 5-5. This record did not do justice to the devoted players and coaches. This year's team had several handicaps with which to contend. Due to its physical size and numbers, many felt that the Rebels were outmatched by larger teams such as, Mt. Juliet, Gallatin, and McGavock. However, despite these obstacles, Quarterback Bobby Brannon, who had a passing record of 1,650 yds., led the Rebels to defeat such tough opponents as Page, Smyrna, Columbia, Springfield, and Lawrenceburg. Wide ends, Greg Estes and 'Brent Daniels, along with running back, Johnny Robertson, contributed greatly to the winning of these games. This year's Rebel defense must also be given credit for these five victories. The defensive line-up was as follows: Brent Daniels, Jeff Linville, Jim Teal, Scott Mennen, Mike Wallace, Otis Coffee, Shane Anglin, Eric Henderson, Gary Walden, Michael Lane, and Rich McCormick. You can bet that next year's team will be a fine one. Juniors, such as, Jim Teal, Jeff Linville, Otis Coffee, Mal Guillen, and Jeff Sistrunk will make a great 1983-84 starting line-up. Coach Clark, with assistant coaches Laxson, Carothers, Laverty, and Garner, has done a super job coaching this year's team. These men deserve much praise for the time and effort they spent coaching this outstanding team. Congratulations on a good year, and good luck next year. As usual, The Franklin High Marching Rebel Band had a suc- cessful season. A number of factors made this year successful in- cluding a fantastic band camp. Along with the traditional sweat and hard work, a thousand laughs were laughed and many tears were shed to make a great band camp '83. This year, the band took on a new look with new uniforms and new flags. Even though we did not bring home "the cup" this year, we brought home a first place trophy and challenge cup from the Ten- nessee Valley lnvitational, a second place overall trophy from the Music City Invitational and also honorable mention cup from the Contest of Champions for the third best overall band. Speaking from experience, we fthe bandl learned that "it is not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game." But watch out our "feathered" friends and "Big Macs," we will be back next year to bring "it" home. . . again.
