Chess enthusiasts sharpen wits, practice patience with pawns Chess provided both relaxation and challenge for several Franklin boys this year, under the guidance of Mr. Danes. Future Nurses Cluh studies full careers oi service Hope springs eternal in the Franklin Future Nurses. Once again the club focused its public attention on the activities of Proiect Hope, bringing the movie sponsored by that world-wide service organization to the school for all Franklinites to see. What they saw was the medical attention being furnished by American doctors, nurses, medical facilities Ctinanced by donations of American moneyl in needy areas of the world. An April auction sale helped raise money 'For Hope. Members of the club hope to become nurses them- selves some day. With that in mind they visited Madonna College, where they learned about Madonna's nursing program. A bake sale helped raise operating expenses,

French, German Language Clubs pursue associated cultural arts It was a lean year 'for Franlclin's language clubs during 1968-69. Neither Spanish nor Latin groups were active at all, as they had been in past years. French and German students, interested in continuing beyond classroom study activities asso- ciated with a language and its country, did get Organized. French students attended a movie done completely with spoken French and were able to go out to dinner a couple of times to a French restaurant. German devotees also managed to satisfy their appetites with Fatherland fare. Both groups hoped that students from the other two language areas would join them to continue the International Dinner tradition. GERMAN CLUB.
