Broadening horizons escalate
English teachers found themselves in practical need
of their own product, effective communication, this year
as they began a two-year curriculum revision program.
Starting from scratch, the Department will design a
completely new program based on the skill and enrich-
ment needs that correspond to Franklin students abilities.
in preparation this year for the first time was the
English Resource Center, presided over by Mrs. Linder-
man. Specialized reference materials were handy for
student use as they worked at tables or in carrels.

Music performers pursue
perfection, cop honors
Franklin's Music Department realifirmed the fact that
there is no limitlto what time and talent and effort
can do toward producing musical excellence. Not satis-
fied with iust their award-winning mechanical skills,
instrumental and vocal groups added creativity and in-
spiration to come up with . . . more honors!
Manning the helm in the sea of sound was Mr.
Ballard, assisted by Mr. Trudgeon, Mrs. Duprey, and Mr.
Ernst. Working together, they transformed vaguely
concerned components into a closely knit but fiercely-
competitive association of fledgling musicians.
