'Best education' problems
motivate determined Administration
To provide curricula and facilities that would give the com-
munity's students their best possible chance of keeping in step
with mankind's constantly expanding knowledge about his uni-
verse, Livonia's hard-working, dedicated, seven-member Board
met at least four times each month, for many hours each time.
Early in the year Superintendent Benton Yates announced
his retirement following the 1969-70 school year. The Board
named Rolland H. Upton as his successor, and elevated Mr. Upton
from Assistant to Deputy Superintendent so that he could work
closely with Mr. Yates before assuming the superintendency.
Old familiar faces comprised Franklin's local administra-
tion during this school year, new faces in the building were
those Churchill High School personnel, who shared Franklin
facilities until their new building is ready next year.
