1 Franklin students who spent the summer of 1968 as students abroad were Patricia Buckman, Dorothy Pumo, Elaine Stanley, and Vicki Haltom, all Seniors of 1969. National Merit Semitinalist Dale Chisholm chatted with Mr. Ort, Chairman ot the Counselors lopposite pagei, as Letter of Commendation winners listened in. The latter included Seniors Dorothy Pumo, Keith Garvey, and Sue Stout. Semifinalists in the Michigan State Mathematics Prize Com- petition Cbelowi included Lesley Bassett, Mary Gauthier, Sally Gribble, Dorothy Pumo, Bob Joyner, Charles Rasmussen, Dale Chisholm, Hal Camp, Don Sizemore, all Seniors: and Sopho- more Jerry Thompson, Knot showni, who moved to Stevenson. Mrs. Kumbier presented Library Service awards to Diane Oli- verio llefti and Frances Finkel- stine Cbelowi at '68 Honors Convocation. l . X -sf? .fl V -ca., , .. Artistically versatile Debra Darden experimented with many different media in the art field during her three years at Franklin. As a Senior she won three certificates tor iewelry entries in the National Scholastic Art Competition. enior achievements lead parade ot distinguished annual honors Most positive ot "explosions" in this, or any school year, are the ones masterminded by talented students who use their time to master knowledge in one area or another. They are the winners who bring honor to themselves and to everyone asso- ciated with them: classmates, family, the historical school. There are the scholars whose academic achievement and discipline make them outstanding. Senior scholastic positions are revealed too late in the year for yearbook printing, however, except for those competition -winners pictured on these pages. It is during Honors Convocation that personal names become publicly attached to accomplishments. Among the prized awards are those given by each department to its outstanding students. All-school activity awards provide a diFFerent type ot honor. i Attending Wolverine Boys State during the summer of 1968 were tive i Franklin Juniors: Bob Joyner, Bob Campbell, Chris Lang, Dan Zedan, and Brad Lyons. All received diplomas with the class of 1969.
