AIR WI G ARRIVI ,Tin 1 1 i 1 The Air Wing came aboard one day in january - thundering like the god of war himself. F-41 Phantoms of ,Fighter Squadrons 4-1 and.84, sleek and designed to intercept the fastest enemy aircraft, arrived from their base at Oceana, Virginia. With the Phantoms came the A-6 intruders of VA-176, bombers de- signed for fast attack, anytime - anywhere. From Norfolk, Virginia came VAXV 12l's FUDD E-las. These Air- borne Early Warning aircraft are the eyes of the airwing, they detect enemy aircraft, land formations, and other important obstacles. A-T Corsairs of Attack Squadrons 15 and 87 flew in from Cecil Field in Florida. Like the Intruder, these planes are bombers, but they are smaller, having the capacity for only one man instead of two. From the VVest Coast came the VVhales of VAQ-135 Electronic XVarfarc Squadron and the Crusaders of VFP-63 Photographic Squadron. Finally arriving from Oceana was CVW-6 Staff, brains and nervous system of the entire Air Wing. r
