Born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1929, Edmund Wesley Ingley entered the Navy in june, 1948. After attending boot camp at Great Lakes, Illinois he attended Aerographer's Mate AU school in Lakehurst, New jersey. He was later accepted -in the Naval Aviation Cadet Program and received flight training at Pensacola, Florida, and Corpus Christi, Texas and was commissioned Ensign in july, 1951. After serving as an all-weather flight instructor at FAWTULANT, Key West, and a primary and advanced training flight instructor, he ,attended the U. S. Naval General Line School in Monterey, California. Following this ten month tour, CDR Ingley reported to Attack Squadron 155 where he served as Maintenance-Administration Officer from june, 1958 until December 1961. He then'served as Attack Aircraft Weapons Systems Training Officer at NAMTRAGRU, Memphis, Tennessee and then returned to the Naval Post Graduate School graduating with a B. S. Degree in May 1965. After serving with Attack Squadron 164 as Operations Officer, Attack Squadron 155 as Commanding Officer, and with the Chief of Naval Opera- tions in Washington D. C., Commander Ingley reported aboard ROOSEVELT as Executive Officer in july, 1970.
