Keeping the Wheels in Motion . . . Dr. Douglas C. Crone, headmaster, has constantly strived to keep Parker the quintessential private school. His capable leadership, unfailing opti- mism, and foresight have kept Parker a vital and growing school. His nine years as chief administrator have won him immeasurable respect from the faculty and student body. lVlrs. George Smith, assistant to the headmaster, manages to remain calm under the pressure of being second in command. Her trouble- shooting keeps the Parker ship sailing smoothly. A Parker alumna, she is a loyal Lancer. Nlr. Bennett, dean of boys, teaches math and is Director of Athletics. As Director of Athletics, he is respon- sible for setting up Lancer sporting events. A busy lVlrs. Barrett, the new dean of girls, also teaches eighth grade English and creative writing. In order to see the high school girls Hunder pleasant conditions she advises the Senior High Girls' League. Pat Helwig, Jan Rogers, and Lisa Hume comprise Parker's efhcient secretarial staff. Their services range from taking in and disbursing money to bandaging knees. Wolfsheimer Parker's Board of Directors took on the monumental task of getting plans, taking bids, obtaining permits, etc. for the Gildred Foundation Building, The Physicians' Science Lab, and the new girls' locker room. The new four-room class building will accommodate up to 85 students. Raising funds for the new construc- tion is another of their projects. Bob Westlund and Diana lVlidlam were hired as fund-raisers by the board. They worked in alumni relations by publishing the Alumni News Letter. Smiling Crews Give Service The bus drivers, under the direction of Dan Zatarain, are friendly men and women who safely transport students to and from school each day. A good meal in a relaxing atmosphere is provided by the cafeteria manager and her fellow cooks. Not only do they offer the students and faculty a well-balanced, deli- cious noon-day meal, but they also pack lunches for trips and serve scrumptious treats for dances and parties. It seems the sprinklers are always on, as Skip Wyman and his team of custodians keep the landscape looking splendid year- round. Cleaning rooms and facilities, set- ting up for programs and parties, and straightening up after events are other ways they make the Parker campus com- fortable and enjoyable.
