Carolia Haglund, we dedicate our yearbook As our new Dean we extend to you our best wishes for many fruitful years at Framingham. lo reword To our years at Framingham we owe an increased awareness of all that is fine and worthwhile in life. ' We are aware of the importance of physi- cal health and the need to preserve and improve it. We are aware of the worth of our friendly associations with faculty and fellow-students. We are aware of the value of knowledge and the oppor- tunity to acquire it. We are aware of those moral truths which should quide the lives of us all. We are aware of the need for spiritual growth in this time of world conflict. This yearbook is our record of the people and activities that have formed our ex- periences at Framingham. We know that, as a result of these experiences, in the years to come we shall gain an ever deeper appreciation of the wonders of the world, of man, and of God - that we shall continue to grow in awareness- to the seniors: Your student days here on the hill will soon be drawing to a close. We will miss you, but your influence will remain. During your four years at Framingham you have seen great ex- pansion in the college physical plant, maior developments in the academic program, and a new peak in enrollment. These are signposts of progress which represent change to meet the needs of changing times. Yet throughout all this you have helped to preserve the quali- ties which are so much a part of Framingham - the warm friendliness, the regard for high standards, the respect for intellectual curiosity, the concern for developing the better person. Framingham has become a better college be- cause of your presence. lt is my hope that the education you have received here will help to make the years ahead fuller, richer, and happier for you and for those coming under your influence. 004 'QLI4-tin: .W PRESIDENT '3"'af., hw a . .","'1'gi '53 w 2, , A, .- l . , "2" 1 ,if '92 I f ' 37 ,--.Q ,,,....q,, ,,.--ng. ...... -1. -.-v 1 T 1 1 ,- 5 .EIS gy.,-s I . lhis in .-in mei.-illiig mul sireniiniies age ln vvliicli in live. llid iespuiisilmle young wiimnii in lhis nge Ima n task lo nlcl iii ilicr slieiigilieuing ul lhe gcaoivl in liummi relaiioiisf lu iqleavelop uiiclcfislniiflihgs which will bring coupmniioii among minority, i'ellgioi.is, micfl imIioi'1eillI'y Uruiiprsg in piuniule fi lmispmiiivn ul lriilli which may permeaie all socxiely. Morning chapel began with a processional into the auditorium by the Class of '62, wearing dresses of white with multicolored cummerbunds. Gor- geous orchid leis were specially flown in from Hawaii for the May Day celebra- tion. During the chapel program, soft Hawaiian music provided a background for the description of Hawaii's history and culture. At the close of chapel, the class song was heard by the school for the first time. The afternoon's pageantry was climaxed by the crowning of the May Queen and the presentation of a Hawaiian luau. In the evening a dance in Dwight Hall added the finishing touch- es to a most memorable day. ill , , ' 5 lqpf- 3: ,yy ,, Q 7 fgytt ,frjigf y W , 4 ,fpfp t- v , was 93:3 wie, ,I its fmt? yskmgxf K,-is-1' 1 al 425 5 25521, ' f ' X f i :az 1 i rf V- it ' Msg - Q f'2zf5ff'fff2:L2fw 'J' if -I ,flvff tiff! It is traditional for the seniors and facul- ty members to carol at the homes of Framingham faculty and friends. A special stop is the Home-for-the-Aged in Framingham Center. The warmth and closeness of friendship seems most ap- parent at this joyous Christmas time when "heartfelt memories linger, Fram- ingham, of you." cinnucll ploy lestivcil Each class at Framingham presents a play in the annual competition of our Play Festival- The winner of the Festival is the class whose presentation is iudged best and which has the largest attend- ance on the part of its members. The Play Festival, recently begun at the col- lege, is readily becoming a Framingham tradition. stunt night ln March, each class at the college enters a dramatic competition- Original plays are written, scenery is built, costumes are sewn, and music and dancing are rehearsed. During Stunt Night itself, selected faculty members iudge the per- formances on the bases of beauty, humor, class participation, and play pre- sentation.
