HIP'S UFFICE The Shipis Office or People Office as its inhabitants prefer to call it is the Hall of Records and the Secretarial Pool for the Ship. The YN 's are very adept at turning a page of chicken tracks into a neatly typed business letter. All typing done on the ship is done by either the YNXPN community in the Ship's Office or by one of the departmental YN's who are on temporary ,assignment from the YN Pool' '. All official correspondence both incoming and outgoing flows through hereg 'The PN,s are the custodians of all the serv- ice records, and thus are responsible for re- cording promotions, courses and schools com- pleted, and changes in dependent status. They, are also here to help the crew with any problems, like transfers, dependent I.D. cards, or any question about service records. Responsible for the latter are the two hard-working Postal Clerks shown on this page. They were on the helo deck for every Log Helo to send off mail and hopefully receive some. When we hit port they were the first ones ashore mailing the outgoing mail and picking up the incoming mail. Then long after liberty call they would stay aboard and sort letters so their shipmates could read their letters as soon as possible. As we left port, the last boat would bring the PC's back after one last mail run to send off their shipmates last minute letters to wives and sweetheartsf A T if wi ill fw i ,i f,r,,k i Pcs Ron Fisher 'SN Frank saiz It isn't sorted yet.
