CUMMISSARY MEN The Commissary Men are the ship's cooks. They daily face the problem of feeding four- hundred men three meals a day Cfive on the linej and making each ofthose meals taste as good or better than what Mom cooked. The problem begins with planning a well-balanced meal, deciding on how much of which foodswill be eaten, and breaking it out from storerooms and giant freezer compartments. With the aid of divisional mess cooks the food is brought to the Galley and prepared. Then when everyone is finished there are dishes and pots and pans to clean like you would not believe. All hours of the night one can smell bread rolls, pies, and cakes baking for the next day's meals. Yet with all their work the cooks still find time for weekend cookouts and special meals on holidays. . 3 CSC James Campbell CSl Thomas Cooper SZ X, . .., :rs....-mu..---gn -.
