Fleet Activities, Yokosuka welcomed over 10,000 Japanese Nationals aboard on Sunday, 25 Dctober 1970, for our celebration of Navy Day. This was an opportunity to continue the goodwill and neighborly feelings that exist between American and Japanese people. The many activities and events of the day were made possible through the cooperative efforts of Navy men and women from the entire military community. 2. The visiting on board the USS Fox CDLG-331 by our Japanese guests was one of the highlights of the Navy Day Program. The obvious popularity of your ship was reflected by the many visitors you received during open house hours. As the cruise started, this space slowly but surely was transformed into the new ship's radio station broadcasting on two channels, known as KRANI ANI and FIVI. An idea that wouldn't work soon proved to be a major morale booster on a once quiet ship and music filled the air throughout the day. The station's very existence became a reality through the efforts of YNSN Ralph W. NIcKee who used to be a discjockey on WIFI radio in Philadelphia, Pa., before entering the navy. Also assisting YNSN NIcKee in the construction and operation of KRANI were, Technical Engineers: FTNIZ Steve Nlorrison, and FTIVIZ Ken Denton. DJ's IFox Jocksl were: DS3 Bruce NIcCoIlum, ICZ Rick Boyden, EIVIZ Brother Don the Wizard Peterson, FTG3 Nick Boyett, SN Country Donnie Baskette, SF3 Tommy Krause, SN Danny Holly, BTFN Ed Gramspacher and STG2 Charlie Betz.
