Lt Ron Johnson ASW OFFICER Lt Curt Elness ASW OFFICER CW02 Rhett Cozart SONAR MAINTENANCE OFFICER SIC The sonarmen and torpedomen of Third Division are responsible for detecting and countering any subsurface threat to FOX or any other friendly forces. They have at their disposal the SOS-26 sonar system which is among the newest and best anywhere. Third Division has many spaces scattered throughout the ship and in each one is located equipment vital to their mission. Une of the most interesting spaces is the sonar dome itself which is a tear shaped structure affixed to the underwater portion of the bow. It is through this dome that sound waves are sent out through several hundred transducer units to search for the telltale returning echo of a contact.
