Ltjg Bill Payne GUNNERY OFFICER GNIG C William Houser SN Donnie Baskette ZND DIVISIO Aboard FOX, Second Division's gunner's mates and fire control technicians are concerned with the aspects of conventional gunnery. Their responsibilities include the 5inch 54caliber fantail gun, thetwo 3inch 5Ocaliber guns mounted amidships, a well stocked small arms locker and two 4Omm saluting batteries for ceremonial occasions. There are also some related spaces under their jurisdiction such as gun plot, all ammunition magazines and a landing force locker. Second Division men man most of the key positions on the guns when they are being fired and during the cruise they showed us all some very fine shooting during the many exercises we conducted.
