CHOICES UF '76 The fall of 76 offered many choices - choices ranging from that of the national Presidency to that at the community level, the Huntington Beach redevelopment. The choice in the presidential party was that of the Ford-Dole or Carter-lvlondale. These choices were covered in many ways ranging from television debates to community rallies. This coverage helped bring out the diversities of each candidate. Ford paid a visit to FV for the enthusiastic crowd who waited for hours to catch a glimpse of the President. An estimated 30000 showed up at lvlile Square Park to greet the President. MGM students held a mock election where FVHS students had the chance to voice their opinions on the Presidential candidates. The outcome gave Ford an overwhelming victory. Choices were also made in the areas of the Senate. California incumbent F .- --. . Armed with his excellent two year record and the dynamic Republican platform, Ford has shown himself far better prepared than Carter. The Democrat nomi- . nee offers us nothing except the usualg a muddled up platform with dozens of prom- ises he can't keep. Ford, on the other hand, has taken a world leadership posi- tion in foreign affairs and advanced sound fiscal policies at home. l-lis election is vital P 2 an to the future of this country as we know it ltf' at t Pob Schofield as I wifi above right: One of many meetings held in concern over the redevelopment of Huntington Beach. above: Spectator Joe Bunney fights hard to keep up his strength by stuffing down donuts after helping make way for President Ford. above: Allison studies a petition she presented. On it were hundreds of collected signatures of Fountain Valley students against the proposed redevelopment. 18 Student Life
