on Girls Brin Smiles To F Play music for Liz Borrego, Lynn Lafferty, Debbie Nelson, Linda Nelson, Pari Rangel, or Nancy Weidenhammer and they just might start dancing. As Fountain Valley's Song Girls for 1969- 1970, it was their job to dance. But as the music started and the pom pom's began to swing, the job turned from more like work to something that even looked like fun. Under Head Song Girl, Nancy, the girls never ceased to tickle their audiences with imaginative skits and clever routines. The Song Girls were real spirit boosters at both pep assemblies and Varsity games. In com- petition at Song Camp and elsewhere, the direction of Miss Donna Soulcles paid off as the girls were the recipients of many awards.

3 me .WK v. Q.. if aseot, ,I Yell 'Get It On' You probably never gave much of a thought to those tive girls in the red sweaters and skirts who pleaded with you to yell at those pep assemblies. They were just another part of the show . But those girls, the JV yell leaders, were just as im- portant in promoting Baron spirit as anyone else assigned the job. Head JV yell leader, Sharon Murphy, led her girls in cheering the JV teams at their hard-fought games. Gften times she and Jan Peek, Jan Kato, Pauline Khun, and Irene Bena- videz were the only spectators. Sometimes it seemed that they were only yelling to themselves. But these girls performed an invaluable service to the student body and to the fighting teams. Sometimes it rained and it got awfully cold in the afternoons, but it was all a part of the game. Sometimes they got a sore throat, but still the girls yelled on. Those girls possessed true spirit. They were the basis of Fountain Valley strength. Their cheerful signs around the campus brightened the days of many students, particularly the JV athletes who knew that these girls were always behind them, no matter the outcome of their games.
