The class I teach, marketing and Distribution Education, deals with fashion merchandise in one segment. We feel that the fashion show gives the girls an opportunity to get in one level of fashion merchandise. Besides, it's a lot of fun and the whole school enjoys it, said Mrs. Hearn. Did you know that this was the eighth year that Fountain Ft. Carson High School has held a Fashion Show? Mrs. Pat Hearn and Miss Elaine Brown spent at least one day before tryouts to teach the students how to walk, turn and how to Wsfff' present themselves to the audience. The students tried out in front of the judgesg the judges consisted of three FHA mem bers, and three DECA mem bers plus Mrs. Hearn and Miss Brown. Carson High School stu- dents were so honored. Cedrick Smith, senior, was voted to the all- state football team and named Gazette Tele- graph All Area Offensive Player of the Year, He led the state in touchdowns with 20, and he ranked second in rushing with 1,186 yards. He's probably one of the best running backs I've ever coached, and one of the smartest young men, too. He gave 100 per cent, said Richens Smith, head football coach. Selected as the best basketball player in the Pikes Peak League this season was Todd Turn- er, senior. Turner was nominated as the number one player to represent the PPL in the Colorado High School Coaches Association all-state game this july in Denver. Turner led the PPL in scoring, averaging 23.5 points per game. He led his Trojan team in rebounds, 10.4 per game, and assists per game, 4.5. Todd is certainly deserving. He could be the best at his position Iamong AA playersj, said Evan Dalrymple, head basketball coach. Alicia Stewart, senior, was nominated for the all-state basketball game as the Pikes Peak League's best senior female player. She averaged 12 points and eight rebounds per game and set a single-season school record for steals, 76. Stewart also tied Wanda Turner and Rhonda Moreland for most career games played, 58.
