Trojans Play Close Matches Through dedication and hard concen- tration the Trojan tennis team played close matches. Many team members practiced on off season to improve their skills. Because of their effort put worth the team achieved three set matches and two tie breakers. Due to the relinlng of the league the Trojans had to play more AAA and AAAA schools. This meant that the schools were larger and the teams where much more tougher then the 1983 Boy's tennis team could handle. Fountain Ft-Carson only being a AA school gave a valiant effort to defeat every school they com- peted with. FLM 4 XQWM -from-5 hf4fu.ff-9--U Trojan Galaxy The Fountain-Fort Carson men's and women's Cross Country team sported their nickname Trojan Galaxy proudly this year, as both teams were filled with stars. Although the men's team was too small to score in many of the meets, it didn't prohibit them from doing their absolute best, as proven by sophomore Kevin Wheeler, who set a new school record three times for the 5 Kilometer Race this year. The record now stands at 16 min- utes 2 seconds. Kevin also placed first at the Pikes Peak League Meet. The women's season was a winning one, with Jenni Ward, Stephanie Watkins, and Rhoda Long three of the team's leading runners. And sopho- more Angie Pritchett, who set a new school re- cord for the 5 Kilometer Race with the time of 19 minutes 39 seconds. After getting over minor injuries at the begin- ning of the season, the team started to strut their stuff, by taking second at Flor- ence and third at a home meet. so well, was the ability to run as a team and finish close to- gether.
