DECA GETS G Distributive Education Clubs of America is a three point program - class room, on the job training and club activities. The club's goal is to help develop leadership, civic consciousness, vocational understanding and social intelligence. Deca sponsored many activities this yearg a fall fashion show and plant sale, Senior citizen get-together, essay and poster contest, attended District contest, attended State contest at the Broadmor, went to St. Francis and Memorial Hospital Pediatric ward at Christmas to distribute candy canes, and sold spirit hands at the football games. The German Club attended two Oktoberfests. One at Penrose Stadium in a tent and the other was at Palmer High School. During the Christmas season they went carolling. The Foreign Language Festival at SCU in Pueblo will be attended and the Foreign Language Dinner at the high school. The Spanish Club makes available some cultural experiences which are not within the scope of the class room. The Spanish Club activities include a paella dinner combined with an ice skating party, a chili picking expedition to Pueblo. Participation in the Foreign Language day at SCU and the International Dinner at our high school. The main goal of French Club is to enjoy learning about the French culture. One of the most enjoyable ways is by experiencing French food. Another goal is to realize that the people of other nations have different traditions, ways of living, and ways of expressing themselves. It's important to be aware of these differences and be accepting of people of different nations. French Club held a bake sale at the Widefield Mall. With the money raised, the students plan to enjoy a French dinner at La Petite Maison and see a French movie. French Club sponsor Sydney Seaman shows French students how to make slides. 97 l
